Our CM team is Spiritually weak
Your Question:
“How can I improve the spiritual strength of our CM team? We have some who aren’t spiritually strong, or who aren’t growing in the Lord.”
The Issues:
This is a critical aspect of “pleasing the Lord” in your CM team! You should establish a consistent policy that states that those who serve on the CM team must attend regular church services at your church. Apart from becoming a “spiritual cop,” you may not be able to verify this attendance right away. Jesus said that “you will know them by their fruit.” This means that you should indeed conduct regular “fruit inspection” with your CM team. The “fruit” of a weak spiritual personal life will definitely “spill over” into the person’s ministry to the children. Recruiting spiritually strong CM team members, and removing those who aren’t spiritually strong, will strengthen the spiritual strength of the CM team.

Short Answer:
The spiritual strength of the CM team is the difference between “childcare” and “ministry.” A spiritually weak CM team will tend to become more like “childcare,” and less like “ministry.” A spiritually weak CM team will result in less spiritual “fruit” in the children (fewer children accepting Jesus, etc.). Improving the spiritual strength of the CM team can also be accomplished through increasing the “spirituality” at each service by: creating, or improving the pre-service prayer time (whether with the whole group, or by “departments”); regularly highlighting the spiritual focus of the ministry (leading children to the Lord and discipling them) in your meetings, conversations, announcements, and communications; consistent prayer in, and out of the classroom (spontaneous or planned).
